Payment Processing for Hard-To-Place Businesses

Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Vantage Payments (vantagepayments.com) is a merchant account provider that services a wide range of business types, including high-risk merchants and merchants in need of offshore processing. Vantage Payments should not be confused with Vantage Card Services, an unrelated company located in Woodstock, Georgia. Vantage Payments is partnered with multiple acquiring banks and is headquartered at 4040 E Camelback Rd, #215, Phoenix, Arizona 85018. Dustin Sparman is the founder and principal of both Vantage Payments and Transparent Merchant Services.

Here's What Their Clients Say

Clean Complaint Record

We are unable to locate any negative Vantage Payments reviews on any other consumer protection websites, which is a good indicator that the company doesn’t scam its merchants. There are also no employee reviews about the company on job search sites. Complaints are more common for providers like Vantage that offer high risk sectors like gun merchant accounts, travel merchant accounts, and e-cigarette merchant accounts, so its clean track record is a rare achievement.

Quality Service for High Risk

Overall, Vantage Payments doesn’t have much positive or negative feedback on reliable third-party sites, so we have assumed that the company provides a generally satisfactory customer support experience. Vantage offers a direct phone number on its website, which gives merchants a way to obtain live support from Vantage.

No Complaints Filed

Vantage Payments has had a Better Business Bureau profile since June 2013 and has been accredited with the BBB since July 2013. The company is currently showing an “A+” rating based on zero complaints and zero informal reviews filed in the time since the profile was created. It should be noted that the BBB lists Vantage’s founding year as 2008, but the company’s official website does not disclose a founding date. We will assume that the BBB’s information is accurate at this time, although there are reasons to be skeptical of the BBB’s findings in general.

An “A” Performance Overall

Vantage Payments’s BBB record is precisely what we would expect from a top-rated processor. Given the company’s clean complaint record since the creation of its BBB profile, we agree with the BBB’s rating.

Custom Pricing

There is very little publicly available information about the standard Vantage Payments contract at this time. This is likely due to the fact that the company is partnered with a wide variety of backend processors in order to serve both traditional and high risk business types. Vantage’s pricing and fees are therefore likely to vary in relation to a merchant’s business type, processing history, and the agent setting up the account. It is also unclear at this time whether the company leases or sells equipment, but it is reasonable to assume that it offers credit card processing hardware in some capacity.

Serving Standard Risk and High Risk

High risk merchants should be sure to inquire about all risk mitigation and chargeback policies in order to avoid unexpected holds. Traditional merchants, on the other hand, should inquire about interchange-plus pricing and push for a month-to-month agreement in order to obtain the cheapest merchant account pricing possible.

No Contract Complaints

Given the total lack of complaints related to Vantage’s costs and contract terms, we will give it an “A” in this section for now. If you have any specific knowledge about Vantage’s pricing and fees (including any early termination fees or PCI compliance fees), please share that information in the comment section below.

Vantage Payments Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs

Should You Work For Them?

Jobs & Marketing Summary
Employs Independent Resellers Yes
Advertises Deceptive Rates No
Discloses All Important Terms No

No Sales Complaints

Vantage appears to primarily use ISOs, independent sales agents, and strategic partnerships to market its services. The use of independent sales agents is commonly linked to complaints within the payment processing industry, but in this case, we have not found any Vantage Payments complaints that accuse the company’s sales representatives of nondisclosure or misrepresentation. Vantage’s positive sales reputation is a large reason why we consider it a top-rated merchant account provider for high risk.

Ethical Marketing

As an additional point in its favor, Vantage does not list any “teaser” quotes or unrealistic guarantees in its official sales materials. We will therefore award it an “A” in this category.

Our Vantage Payments Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

Great Option for High Risk Industries

Vantage Payments rates as a reliable merchant services provider according to all available information. The company has not received any public complaints since its inception in 2008, but merchants should also note that we are unable to obtain specific contract details at this time. Vantage Payments shares ownership with Transparent Merchant Services, but the companies do not appear to have significant overlap in terms of the services or pricing they offer. As always, merchants are encouraged to read and understand all contract terms before signing up for service.
