Low Complaint Total
Currently, there are only two negative Ensight reviews located, neither of which label the company as a scam or a ripoff. These complaints, found in the comments section of this review, mainly express difficulties in reaching customer service. However, these instances seem to be exceptions rather than the norm, as Ensight Merchant Services generally appears effective in resolving client issues internally. We encourage those with personal experiences or reviews regarding Ensight Merchant Services to share them in the comments below.
Ensight Merchant Services Lawsuits
No outstanding class-action lawsuits or Federal Trade Commission (FTC) complaints have been identified against Ensight Merchant Services. Clients preferring non-litigious means of addressing concerns are advised to consider reporting their issues to relevant supervisory organizations.
Ensight Merchant Services Customer Support Options
Ensight provides a 24-hour customer support phone line and live agent chat on its website. However, it remains unclear if these support services are managed in-house or by a third party, such as their partner, First Data (Fiserv). Consequently, clients might sometimes interact with First Data (Fiserv) for customer service inquiries. Despite this ambiguity, the relatively low volume of public complaints over more than ten years of operation earns Ensight an “A” rating in this category, even though they are not currently classified as a top-rated merchant account provider for customer service.
Ensight Merchant Services Customer Service Numbers
Ensight Merchant Services currently maintains an “A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau and has been an accredited business since 2018. The company has received 0 complaints on its BBB profile in the past 36 months.
What Merchants Say
Ensight Merchant Services has received 0 customer reviews on its profile with the Better Business Bureau in the last 3 years. A former negative review details an experience from a client who experienced difficulty closing an account:
Closed my account with Ensight Merchant Services on Oct 9th 2018. My bank account was debited every month through March 2019. I had to send numerous emails to get refunded back the money they stole. The refunds were short. Ensight promised to send a check for the shortage, but Ensight never sent the check. Guess they felt entitled to my money, or deserved a tip. Hey Ensight…It was my money, not yours. You lied, you stole, and were unresponsive. I feel bad for anyone that decides to do business with you. Still waiting on what you owe me.
Clients should understand how to close their account without paying a fee to avoid situations like this.
An “A” Rating
At the time of an earlier update, the BBB assigned Ensight an “F” rating and cited the company’s “unauthorized use of BBB name or trademarks” as the only factor lowering its score. Ensight has since removed all improper mentions of the BBB from its website, and the BBB has deleted its accusations about the company from its profile. Given the company’s low complaint total in the length of time that it has had a BBB profile as well as the resolution of improper BBB mentions, we feel that the BBB’s current grade is appropriate. Readers should note, however, that there are good reasons to be skeptical of the BBB’s rating system.
Current information about the standard Ensight Merchant Services contract is limited. Due to its potential collaboration with First Data (Fiserv), it may offer contracts similar to those of First Data (Fiserv). These contracts are often multi-year agreements that include an early termination fee of $495, a monthly PCI compliance fee of $19.95, and tiered pricing.
For businesses processing up to $50,000 monthly, the rates are 2.69% plus $0.19 for swiped transactions and 3.69% plus $0.19 for keyed transactions. For monthly volumes above $50,000, the rates decrease to 2.29% plus $0.19 for swiped and 3.29% plus $0.19 for keyed transactions. The agreements may include long-term, non-cancellable equipment leases through First Data Global Leasing.
Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing
Ensight Merchant Services also highlights its virtual terminal and payment gateway solutions, offering clients a choice between Authorize.Net and the First Data/Fiserv Payeezy gateway. Pricing varies depending on the selected payment gateway provider.
Variable Contract Terms
Due to the use of independent resellers and its partnership with a major processor, contract terms with Ensight Merchant Services are likely to differ significantly depending on the agent and specific business characteristics such as type, size, and operational duration. There is no evidence suggesting that Ensight Merchant Services’ pricing aligns with the most affordable merchant accounts. If you possess any details about the standard contract terms with Ensight Merchant Services, sharing them in the comment section below would be beneficial.
Ensight appears to employ independently contracted sales agents and ISOs to market its services. This is a common industry practice that makes it difficult for a company to regulate the behavior of its sales force. In the case of this company, however, we were unable to locate any negative Ensight Merchant Services reviews that mentioned deceptive behavior by sales agents.
Misleading Rate Quote
The home page of the company’s website quotes “rates as low as 0.35%” without any further elaboration. This rate is likely the company’s “Qualified” rate for debit transactions, and the page makes no mention of the “Mid-Qualified” and “Non-Qualified” rates that merchants will pay for the vast majority of their transactions. We consider this type of rate quoting to be deceptive, as it may give clients an unrealistic expectation of the effective rate they will pay. This is a common marketing tactic in the credit card processing industry, and Ensight is therefore awarded an average grade of “B” in this category. If you suspect that Ensight Merchant Services is charging you undisclosed fees, we recommend seeking an independent statement audit to spot hidden charges.
Our Ensight Merchant Services Review Summary
Our Final Thoughts
Ensight Merchant Services rates as a better-than-average credit card processing provider according to our rating criteria. The company’s relatively positive standing is underscored by its low complaint volume, with only two complaints registered across all consumer protection websites. This indicates a generally satisfactory level of service and client satisfaction. Ensight Merchant Services demonstrates the ability to deliver reliable credit card processing solutions, which is a commendable achievement in a competitive industry.
However, there are notable areas of concern. A lack of transparency regarding the company’s contract terms, coupled with instances of deceptive rate quoting on its website, warrants caution. Potential clients should be vigilant and ensure they fully understand all aspects of the contract before committing. We strongly encourage readers to carefully scrutinize the terms of any agreement they are offered, comparing its pricing and conditions to those of top-rated providers. Prospective clients should not hesitate to aggressively negotiate contract terms to secure the most favorable arrangement possible. By taking these proactive steps, businesses can better safeguard their interests and achieve optimal outcomes when selecting a credit card processing provider.

In the late 2000s, as a broke college student struggling to make ends meet, I was contacted by a merchant services company after uploading my resume to a job listings website. This company promised substantial commissions and ongoing residual income for simply persuading businesses to accept credit card payments. It seemed straightforward enough—after all, what business doesn’t need to process credit card payments? Following a phone interview with a persuasive “sales director,” I found myself embarking on what I believed would be an easy job that would significantly boost my bank account with reliable monthly income and large sales commissions. However, the lessons I learned would profoundly change my life in ways I could never have imagined.
After completing my sales training, I hit the ground running, eager to make sales. This broke college student was determined to improve his financial situation! My first attempt at a cold call, with no prior appointment, ended with a burly man in his 50s yelling at me to leave, claiming he had been “totally robbed” by someone like me before. As I hastily exited, puzzled and intimidated by his reaction, I couldn’t help but wonder what he meant. Throughout the day, I encountered similar hostility from other business owners, all expressing disdain for the industry I had been so excited to join that morning. Confused and curious, I decided to shift my approach from selling to listening.
I quickly uncovered that the merchant services sector was riddled with unethical practices, including hidden fees, deceptive marketing, fine-print traps, and much more. It dawned on me that I had nearly been tricked by a dubious company into selling overpriced services under contracts with long-term commitments, all without being fully aware of what I was promoting. Outraged, I resigned from that company but learned that there were indeed ethical credit card processing companies that treated their clients fairly. Over the next four years, I worked for one such company, assisting hundreds of businesses in securing cost-effective processing solutions. Yet, I also met many more who had been misled and trapped in onerous service agreements. Determined to help people steer clear of these unscrupulous providers, I launched this website in my spare time, dedicating myself to researching and sharing my findings on every merchant account provider I could investigate.
Gradually, more and more business owners began to discover my articles. As word spread, search engines started to rank my content highly, amplifying its reach. My efforts were making a difference! Eventually, the website garnered enough traffic to enable me to leave my job and focus on it full-time, a journey that has now spanned over a decade. This path has not been without its challenges; unscrupulous company owners have tried to intimidate and sue me into silence on several occasions. Yet, I have stood firm against each threat. Here I am, continuing to publish reviews and articles, hoping to safeguard others from the pitfalls of the credit card processing industry.
